Richard Varr is a well-rounded freelance writer with more than 22 years writing experience. He specializes in business writing, copywriting, book and magazine writing, and travel/feature writing. He is also a freelance television news writer and special projects producer.

Richard is an accomplished copywriter and business writer with a wide variety of clients. He has researched and ghostwritten corporate history books on two prominent Philadelphia area companies - Commerce Bancorp, Inc., and Day & Zimmermann, Inc. His client list also includes Arthur Andersen, GlaxoSmithKline, Mercy Health System, as well as advertising and public relations agencies. He has been published in The Philadelphia Business Journal.

For his travel/feature writing, he has been published frequently in a host of magazines, including PORTHOLE Cruise Magazine and other PPI Group magazines found on board cruise ships, including Carnival Cruise Lines' Gateways and Holland America Line's Special Voyages. His work has also been published in The Rotarian, Heartland USA, German Life Magazine, National Motorist (CA), Grit, Coast to Coast, Cashmere Magazine (Mid Atlantic), International Railway Traveler, New Jersey Monthly, The New Orleans Times-Picayune, The Worcester (MA) Sunday Telegram, The Lowell (MA) Sun, Main Line (Philadelphia) Life, and several Internet websites. He has traveled extensively throughout North America and Europe, and has taken trips to Africa, China and the Caribbean.

Drawing from his extensive television news background, Richard is also a freelance special projects producer and writer for NBC-owned WCAU-TV and Tribune's WPHL-TV, both in Philadelphia. Formerly a television and newspaper reporter, Richard reported five and a half years for KRIV-TV, Houston's Fox-owned television station. He was also a reporter and substitute anchor for more than six years at KTBC-TV in Austin, Texas. For those stations, he earned regional and local awards for his reporting on a wide variety of national and local news stories. Before that, Richard worked as a reporter and anchor for stations in Waco, Texas and Elmira, New York. Because of his experience, Richard currently teaches reporting and news writing at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Richard began his journalism career by working three years as a reporter for the suburban Boston daily, The Middlesex News. That was his first journalism job after graduating from Boston University with a MS degree in Broadcast Journalism.
